The order, from left to right, will always follow the following list, ignoring options that don't appear in each area. These range from new monsters to fight, to equipment to loot/buy, and even unlockable titles. Following this heading is a table with all of the important collectable information in the area. These are almost always a new area, whether a new town, dungeon, or when traveling around on the world map. I won’t give a score because it would do the original injustice.Every section will have a heading like the one above, in ALL CAPS, bolded, and underlined. In conclusion, this is probably my biggest disappointment in years. I wish it was different, but this game is truly horrible. From missing audio to faulty save points to an extremely buggy AI on your team members, this game has everything to ruin your gaming night. I do not remember the game on the GameCube to be this faulty. This led me to actually stop the game, I just have enough of the bugs. Skits, the interludes that help guide the game, refused to skip, so I had to sit down and endure the same skits I had seen before, not just a second time, but also a third time, because yes, it happened a third time as well. Hoping for a better experience this time around, I went back to sleuth myself past all the previous enemies and well, the exact same thing happened, save point refused to work. I turned off the PS5 and tried again the next day. This was probably the breaking point in my desire to keep playing this highly anticipated classic. In the fire section in the desert, I had a non-functioning save point, causing me to lose 3 hours of gameplay in a double session. Ever had an RPG where save points did not work? Well, happened to me as well. Now, this would be something I could live with, if not for the faulty save points. Needless to say, they got butchered within seconds. This one time, I was facing a tough enemy, not even a boss fight, who bested me, it happens to the best of us, but this is where the biggest frustration of all came about… My team members in a 3v1 fight did not bother to even attack or heal themselves, they just stood there like chickens awaiting for Link to pick them up in any Zelda game. I have had teammates just do nothing instead of even attacking the enemy right in front of them in this live-action fighting system and it is very annoying. I have set up my team to heal when possible, due to other experiences, so I would also have the most health available, but they just do not listen. Attacks defends or specials, this part of an RPG is all on par with the greats yet it is sadly not so fluent. Now, I say fake because it is really kind of linear and when you select another enemy, you basically just end up in their line of sight. To really understand this point, you need to know there is a sort of fake 3D fighting, where you can select opponents and you go attack them with whatever attack you have at your disposal. I also encountered unresponsive button pushes (yes, I did restart my console along the way to make sure the issue was not on my side only), mildly infuriating, and the worst one of all, my fellow fighters refusing to fight. Let us start with some of the non-intrusive bugs I had, like disappearing music, no big deal. Now first, before I get to my frustrations, storywise, this is one of the better Tales of games and I would like to make it very clear that my frustration only stems from the gameplay which is the frustration capital of any game I played in the past ten years and that is me ignoring the bugs I was faced with. Follow the journey of Lloyd Irving as he and his friends try to save both worlds.ĭive back into Tales of Symphonia, an exciting and beloved action RPG, now with enhanced graphics and improved gameplay! What was once a darling among gamers in the GameCube era, is now back on modern consoles, and with the promise of improved gameplay, you just have to be wanting to play this 88% rated game on Metacritic, right? Well, I was the same way until I actually started playing and I had to really control my frustrations every turn and at least 3 times did I consider throwing my PS5 out the window. The line between good and evil blurs in this epic adventure where the fate of two interlocked worlds hangs in the balance. In a dying world, legend has it that a Chosen One will one day rise from amongst the people and the land will be reborn. Welcome to our review of Tales of Symphonia Remastered, the game that challenged my desire to throw my PS5 out the window.
